The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Sagnarigu Constituency in the Northern region is in turmoil over the upcoming parliamentary elections for orphan constituencies scheduled to come off from September to December 2023.
The constituency executives have been accused by several party members of orchestrating to allow the 2020 parliamentary candidate, Madam Felicia Tetteh to go unopposed.
It can be recalled that some NPP members some days ago vandalized the constituency party office in protest of the refusal of the constituency executives to allow them to pick the nomination forms on behalf of Alhaji Wahab who happens to be a former aid to the late Vice-president, Alhaji Aliu Mahama.
According to some of the party members, the action of the current executives will further dwindle the chances of the NPP in the constituency, and vowed to vote against Madam Felicia Tetteh if she is made to go unopposed.
The NPP in the constituency has been divided between current executives and immediate past former executives.
It is also rumored that some of the aspirants, Alhaji Wahab, Mr. Zakaria Alidu, and Hajia Musah Hawa together with their supporters will gang up against the candidature of Madam Felicia Tetteh if she is imposed on them as the party’s Parliamentary candidate.
Some of the disgruntled party supporters are also accusing Madam Felicia Tetteh of being arrogant and doesn’t listen to any advice which they believe makes her unfit to represent the party in the 2024 general elections.
So far, it’s only, Madam Felicia Tetteh who has been able to pick the nomination forms but the other aspirants are being denied to pick the forms by the constituency executives.
