WASSA EAST: CLAIM THAT ABOUT 1,000 MEMBERS OF NDC DEFECT TO NPP IS A PALPABLE FALES

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen of the media,
You will recall that somewhere last week, the NPP opened nomination for their parliamentary primaries and since then, a key member of the failed New Patriotic Party (NPP) government Lawyer Gertrude Mona picked nomination to contest for their (NPP) internal elections. Out of desperation and knowing very well that the NPP government have failed Ghanaians including Wassa East and for that matter, the people of Wassa East have vowed to punished them by voting against them. Knowing this, the NPP parliamentary primaries aspirant deliberately decided to confuse, deceive and throw dust into the eyes of Ghanaians and for that matter Wassa East by saying, “about 1000 people have defected from the NDC to join NPP”.

Friends in the media, we in the NDC have carefully interrogated the videos and audios in circulations purported to have carry the story and can without a shred of doubt state categorically that the claims in the said videos and audios are false, deceptive and malicious and should be disregarded because it does not reflect the truth on the grounds.

Without wasting much time, we want to clearly demonstrate to you why the claims in the videos, audios and news items are false and mere fabrication to tarnish the image of our hard-working Member of Parliament and the NDC Wassa East constituency.

1. The videos in circulation particularly failed to show a single member of NDC who has defected to the NPP let alone a hundred and up to the false claim of one thousand people but rather captured a hand full of known NPP supporters and members (not more than fifteen (15) people) in the constituency.

2. The two people who spoke in the audios are elements within the NDC who have disserted the party after the 2016 elections and cannot therefore continue to hold themselves as NDC members making their claims redundant.

3. The claim that the MP have failed is not back by any evidence and just a figment of their own imagination. The MP even with the unprecedent failure of this government, through his own resources is providing chips compound for some communities like Prato, Anto-Kuberkro, Accra New Town and nurses quarters at Wassa Essamang and among other things.

4. The claim that the yet to be considered for election NPP parliamentary candidate has built schools shows how desperate and frustrated the NPP in the Wassa East are and hence a clear attempt to play on the intelligence of the people of Wassa East.

Colleagues in the media, in the afford going matter,

 We want to state categorically and emphatically that since the NPP government came to power, there has not been any single project or development undertaking by Nana Addo Bawumiah in the Wassa East district so as to warrant people leaving the NDC to join them (NPP) if not for deception and propaganda.

 We want to reiterate that the NDC is still intact and that no member of our party have defected to the NPP and that no NDC member will want to increase the hardship of suffering Ghanaians by joining the NPP to help them inflict more hardship.

 We maintain that the claims in the said videos and audios are palpable falsehood and should be disregarded and discarded.

 That, our MP is among the best performing members of parliament unlike our NPP Nana Addo appointed District Chief Executives whom are always last when it comes to performance.

 That our party have a clear campaign message and we will in the coming days present to Ghanaians our policies and plans for the country including providing free cocoa fertilizers to farmers as we used to do before 2017.

 Again, we want to assure Wassa East constituents that our MP is a hard-working MP and will continue to work for the betterment of Wassa East. Any attempt by any desperate member of the non-performing NPP government to throw dust into our eyes should be treated with discontent.

Finally, we are by this release urging all and sundry to see this defection of NDC members to NPP as completely false and a deliberate attempt to cover up for the failures of the NPP government. We are sure Wassa East will help lead to deliver us from this corrupt and nepotistic government of Nana- Bawumia.
We want to encourage everybody in Wassa East to get involved in uprooting the NPP government by voting massively for John Mahama and Hon. Isaac Adjei Mensah come December 7.
