The National Democratic Congress NDC embarked on a 3-day ‘Thank you tour’ of the Assin North Constituency with the assurance that the NDC – government would not take the people of the Central Region for granted when elected in 2024.
A delegation of National, regional, Constituency, and branch Executives of the party led by the National communication officer Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi and some Members of Parliament on Friday, July 7, accompanied the Member of Parliament for Assin North, James Gyakye Quayson, to the Breku central mosque and the Saviour Church, SDA church on Saturday 8th July, all at Breku to thank Allah for a resounding victory in the just-ended by-election.
The Council of Churches together with the constituents of Assin North and the NDC held a thank-you service for the successful election of Hon Gyakye Quayson. The event which took place at the Methodist School Park in Assin Breku on Sunday 9th June 2023, was honored by the Former President John Dramani Mahama and the 2020 running mate Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, NDC Members of Parliament led by the minority leader Hon. Ato Forson, National Executives led by the National Chairman Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, Regional and Constituency executives across the country and the clergy.
The 2024 Presidential Candidate of the NDC H. E John Dramani Mahama thanked all the people of Assin North Constituency for overwhelmingly voting for the NDC to retain Hon. James Gyakye Quayson. Ghanaians are thankful for what you’ve done on 27th June 2023. “in case the history of Ghana is written, yours will be engraved with gold” he said. He assures the people that, the NDC will never take their support for granted.
The newly elected Member of parliament Hon. Gyakye Quayson reiterated his commitment to developing the Assin North Constituency. He said, his “vision and aim has not changed and it will not change” and he ” will deliver and develop the Assin North constituency” – it is for this reason He came down to serve his nation.
He thanked the good people of Assin North, The Flagbearer of the NDC John Mahama, and the NDC party at the National and regional level not forgetting the constituency and branch executives and all Ghanaians who came on board to deliver this resounding victory.
Speaking at the rally on the final day to climax the event is the national executives led by Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah and General Secretary Mr. Fiifi Fiavi Quetey who said that the NDC needed to assume the helm of affairs to end the unprecedented economic mismanagement and incompetence of the seven years of the NPP administration despite the huge resources available to them. He said, ‘The good people of Assin North had demonstrated true political maturity on June 27th, what you did is to tell the NPP you can’t sell your soul to let your constituency go down’. They assured the constituents that the combination of James Gyakye and John Mahama in the 2024 general election is a combination for development.
