The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) will snatch more parliamentary seats from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and convincingly win the presidential elections in the 2024 general elections, according to a latest poll by the data research firm, Global InfoAnalytics. With a sample size of 5,490 in seventy-five (75) randomly selected constituencies, the research firm reports that as many as seventeen (17) legislators from the governing NPP are very likely to lose their seats against seven (7) from the NDC in the 2024 elections.
The report which is titled “Constituency Report, Which MP is safe?” and published on 25th July, 2022 analyzed data from 75 constituencies of which 41 were won by the NPP with the remaining 34 for the NDC. Analysis of the reports is based on the “likely voters” model. This means voters who indicated they were not going to vote were excluded in the overall analysis for the general elections.
NPP SEATS AT RISK
According to the survey, at least seventeen parliamentary seats currently held by the ruling NPP are likely to be lost by the party. The president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo also received a poor approval rating from voters in those constituencies. Ursula Owusu’s Ablekuma West seat is one of the risky constituencies to keep an eye on. Her 54.27% win in the 2020 elections is expected to slip away to the NDC in the 2024 elections. Ablekuma North, Ayawaso Central, Effutu, Nsawam Adoagyiri,Tema Central,Hohoe, Tema West, Weija Gbawe, Asunafo North and Okaikwei South are some of the seats the NDC is likely to snatch in the 2024 polls according to the research firm. The NDC is also tipped to reclaim the Amasaman seat after the NPP won it with 51.14% of the votes. Gomoa Central, New Juabeng North, Techiman South, Abura Asebu Kwamankese and Berekum West are the remaining seats expected to switch green in 2024.
UNSTABLE SEATS FOR THE NDC
The Asougyaman, Nkwanta South, Asikoma Adoben Brakwa, Ejura/Sekyeredumase and Prestea-Huni Valley parliamentary seats are among the seven likely constituencies to be lost by the NDC in the 2022 polls according to Global InfoAnalytics. Hon. Nii Lantey’s Odododiodioo is also at risk of being lost just as Zanetor’s korley Klottey constituency.
The population of voters in the 75 constituencies as captured in the report is 4,877,028. Global InfoAnalytics is expected to publish its poll results of the possible by-election in the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency today.
