Towards Election 2024: NDC starts work for Power

The Secretariat of the various constituency offices of the Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Greater Accra Region came alive with party business on Friday and over the weekend when members of the party thronged the offices to obtain the Branch registers and Nomination forms for their activities as they prepare to wrestle power from the ruling New Patriotic Party ( NPP) in the 2024 crucial general elections. The region joined the Central,Volta and Oti regions as members of the Southern/ Zone 3 sectors in fulfilling the party’s electoral timetable.

The Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the NDC on Tuesday,12th July,2022 issued a roadmap on the party’s internal elections from Branch through to National level. The Northern/Zone one and Middle Zone two made up of Five(5) regions each, over the weekend conducted elections in various Branches amidst enthusiasm from members and party loyalists as they displayed NDC paraphernalias and showed their readiness to capture power in 2024.

When DFS Live News visited the Dome/ Kwabenya Constituency office of the NDC on Friday, 29th July, 2022 the Constituency Secretary Comrade Dodzi Thomas Tsoekeku was busily attending to tens of members who had gathered there as early as 08:30. The meeting which went beyond the scheduled closing time of 17:00 was peaceful and successful as every Branch was given twenty(20) Nomination forms to be filed and submitted latest by Sunday,31st July, 2022. All 356 Branches, both old and new, received twenty Forms each for the nine executive positions up for grabs in the elections in few days.

Issuing the Branch registers and Nomination forms to the members present, the Constituency secretary expressed his satisfaction with the enthusiasm from his party members towards the exercise and asked them to make the Forms available to all members aspiring for positions at the various Branches. He called for easy and equal access to the Forms and cautioned that denying any party member access to the Forms could be punishable per the disciplinary rules of the party. The party members who received the registers and Nomination forms expressed satisfaction about the transparent and easy manner in which the documents were accessed.

The election of the Branch executives will form the basis for the subsequent elections at the constituency, regional and national levels schedule for this year.
