-says party in a better shape for 2024
-calls for all Constituency Executives who produced MPs or increased their votes significantly to be retained

The Greater Accra regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Comrade Joseph Kobina Ade Coker, has charged members of the party to remain focused and continue working hard as the NDC prepares to secure victory in the 2024 general elections. According to him, this feat will be achieved if the experienced hands who steered the affairs of the party in the various levels and birthed new Members of Parliament or saw their parliamentary and presidential results rise significantly are retained.

Mr. Ade Coker speaking in an exclusive interview with DFS Live News at the NDC Greater Accra office touched on the party’s limited registration exercise, the reorganization efforts and aslo painted a picture of the health of the party in the region.
HEALTH OF THE PARTY IN THE REGION
Speaking on the general health of the NDC in the region, the former Ghana Football Association (GFA) vice chairman gave an inspiring account of the performance of the party in the last general elections as compared to the 2016 elections and offered a bright prospect of the party for the next elections. ” Coming into the 2020 elections, the expectations were so high and I think we delivered. We moved from 13 seats to winning 20 seats out of the 34 in the region and we could’ve won two more”, the NDC Chairman accounted. According to him, the party under his leadership worked tirelessly to smoothen some cracks in some constituencies and that resulted in the high number of votes garnered by the party in the region. ” We bounced back from 2016 and increased our votes for the presidential elections as well” Mr. Coker continues. Assessing the party’s performance, the NDC Chairman remarked amidst laughter saying “on a scale of 1-10, I’ll definitely say 10+1”.
A PLEA TO MAINTAIN HARDWORKING EXECUTIVES
Mr. Ade Coker expressed his desire to see all Branch and Constituency executives whose hardwork saw NDC MPs emerge from their Constituencies to be retained. It’s also his wish to have all constituency executives who increased the party’s votes significantly in their constituencies to be given the nod for another term. According to him ” all the Constituency Executives who have done well must be maintained”. Giving his criteria, he said ” a Constituency that won a seat, a Constituency which is an orphan Constituency but appreciated their vote” should all be maintained. ” We’re in opposition and we’ve got the machines already in place…overall in Greater Accra, we won the region so we need to maintain them” the experienced politician suggested to party members. ” We don’t have to rock the boat, we won Greater Accra so why do you have to disturb the boat when they have the experience to continue?” Mr. Ade quizzed
ONGOING NDC LIMITED REGISTRATION
On the ongoing limited registration exercise, the three-term party Chairman expressed satisfaction with the interest shown in the process from the general public but pointed out some challenges confronting the exercise in some areas. He noted that some party executives have been reported to be undermining the exercise and warned of the dire consequences of their actions and inactions. “There’s a tendency for people to want to skew the process in their favour but I’ve told them that it will not inure to anybody’s benefit because at the end of the day we’re going to have a level playing field” the indefatigable chairman warned. He assured that the limited registration exercise would be extended and some few hours before press time, DFS Live News sighted a document in confirmation of the extension of the exercise by 10 more days. The exercise, supposed to end on Tuesday June 7, will now have a new deadline on 18th June,2022.
