The Executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency had their turn to meet some of the party’s Regional Executive Committee members on Tuesday, May 31 from the party’s ongoing Outreach Program to all constituencies in the Greater Accra region. The exercise, according to the regional secretary, is to acquaint themselves with the progress on card replacement and the ongoing Limited registration exercise conducted at the various Branches of the party.
REPORT FROM THE CONSTITUENCY EXECUTIVES
Briefing the regional delegation as well as the current and past Executives present, the constituency secretary of the party, Comrade Thomas Tsoekeku Dodzi, gave an account of the number of cards acquired from the regional secretariat, the progress made in the retrieval of the stamped cards and a report on the limited registration exercise so far. He noted that the cause of the delay in starting the limited registration in some areas in the constituency was mainly due to delays in retrieving registration materials and the lack of clarity in the new coding system. The NDC Constituency scribe provided a breakdown of the number of party cards procured and distributed to the Branches together with the registers through the various Ward Executives. He used the opportunity to highlight some challenges the Executives have to deal with in the rollout of the registration exercise and the replacement of cards to members.
RESPONSE FROM THE REGIONAL DELEGATION
Taking his turn to address members, the Greater Accra Regional organizer of the party, Mr. Anthony Nukpenu, spared no time in setting off with the mission of his delegation. After making sure all the invited party executives were present, he set out for action by asking some pertinent questions on the report presented by the secretary. Through interaction with all the Ward Coordinators present, each confirmed the receipt of the party cards and registers for onward deliveries to the Branches as put out by the secretary. Other questions were put across to the party executives for confirmations. He charged the members to work hard for the party to capture power in the 2024 elections and put aside their differences for the interest of the party. Mr. Nukpenu expressed satisfaction at the outcome of the program and assured the participants that their reports and concerns would be addressed by the Regional Executive Committee.
Speaking to DFS Live News, the tough speaking Organizer expressed optimism at the NDC’s chance in the 2024 polls and called on the party to elect hard working executives for the task ahead. ” We will win the 2024 elections only if we have the best Executives at the Branches because that is where our focus is. It is worrying to see some party Executives only boasting about their positions on social media while their branches are inactive” he noted.
He assured that the report from the Constituency, Ward and Branch Executives obtained at the outreach, even though satisfactory, will be further assessed by the team at the Region.
The outreach was attended by the current and former Constituency Executives, former parliamentary aspirants, Ward coordinators, Branch Executives and Pro NDC Assembly members.
