The Greater Accra Constituency chairmen of the NDC have owned up to the decision to stamp the party’s cards for its branch members. The issue of stamped party cards generated a lot of controversy earlier this year with the party’s general secretary, Hon. Asiedu Nketia wading in with a directive to cease the embossment of stamps on the cards. In a meeting with former president John Dramani Mahama at his office on Wednesday, the caucus secretary Hon. Nicholas Ofoi, who is also the Kpone Katamanso Constituency chairman clarified the need to stamp the cards. “When they brought it, we requested for security reasons to stamp the cards just so that we can also as Chairmen monitor the process. We requested through a petition to the Region”, Mr. Ofoi explains.
The chairmen were at the office of the former president to, as part of their annual retreats, plan and strategize towards the party’s electoral fortunes.John Mahama on his part reminded the Chairmen on the need to see the Greater Accra region as a key determinant of the 2024 elections with a call on them to continue working harder for the party’s victory.
